5 Months Old

Well here he is, five months old. He's becoming very active and never wants to sit still.

He is getting very good at doing push ups, and he loves to drool while doing them.

He wants to challenge Daddy to a push up contest.

He's started sucking on his bottom lip.

He hates riding in his car seat usually, but here he's able to find a moment of tranquility.

He loves to eat his feet.

Yum Yum

And sleep with them.

He's also into reading his books and growing hair, and pretty much being handsome and awesome!

Army Life

Living on a street mainly made up of other army families is a nice feeling. There's a connection you feel with them, even if you never formally meet and only see each other in passing. People understand your situation because they are going through much of the same things. I would feel comfortable knocking on any one of their doors if I was in need. Since Kirby's been gone my neighbors have mowed my lawn, invited me over for dinner numerous times, and our neighborhood doctor even made a house call when I thought Oliver might be getting pink eye. We are there for each other in a way that most neighbors are not. Never is that more evident than when there is a loss. I found out yesterday that our neighbor Joe was killed in Iraq. The news ripped through our street and our hearts. Everyone felt it, regardless if they were close to him and and his wife or not. Its devastating news for us all. You know it could just as easily have been you getting that horrible news, no one is immune. Its just another part of Army life, a part no one likes to think about, but that we all hold in the back of our minds.
Please keep all our fallen soldiers in you hearts and minds and tell your own loved ones what they mean to you everyday.

Sarah Jessica Parker's 5 year old son is a Democrat

Of course he is. What self respecting child of dual Hollywood parents wouldn't be?

Then again, I guess I can't talk, I did buy this for Oliver.

Getting Better on His Belly

Its getting increasingly easier for Oliver to spend more time on his belly. He has figured out how to prop him self up with his hands and elbows. He still gets mad when he's had enough tummy time though.

Busy, Busy

Oliver and I made a trip up to see my parents last week. We had a great time, it was especially nice leaving Oliver with Grandma for a couple hours. I also went to my friend Cathie's baby shower. Everyone thought Oliver was the bee's knees and he got the usual round of people saying "he's so alert!" Everywhere I go people say that to me. He must be a super genius or something ;)

Oliver and Uncle Bret

Hmmm not to sure about this guy

In his stupid rain forest bouncer. I would never buy a monstrosity like this, it was a hand me down from some people we know.

Oliver and his Pal Marcus

I planted some Irises last spring and this year they bloomed! Here is the first big beautiful flower.

And then a whole bunch more bloomed

So pretty

Oliver also has a bouncy thing that hangs from the door, he digs it.

No hands!

Videos Galore

As promised here is video of the baby rolling over. He's gotten really good at it but once he's done he doesn't necessarily like being stuck on his tummy. He'll be much happier when he can also roll from his belly to his back.

I tried to get some more video of him rolling, but he was content to stay on his back. He's playing with his new bunny from Grandma and Grandpa Jones. Thank you!

As soon as I stopped filming he rolled over and I got the last bit of it.

He's not content with sitting still anymore, but he's frustrated at his limited mobility. Now that he has a taste of moving around he can't get enough of it. So to get a little more exercise I threw him in the tub so he could kick to his hearts content.

I have to report that the nights here have been a lot better. Great in fact. Now that he can roll he is able to sleep on his belly. He has always been a good sleeper, it was just a hard transition from him sleeping in the boppy to now him being able to sleep on his stomach. For about a month he just couldn't sleep because he kept waking himself up. We are back on track and getting a lot more sleep!

4 Months Old

Here's Oliver at 4 months wearing the adorable sweater Grandma Pat knit for him. Too bad its 80 degrees here!

Its an awful lot of orange clothing for one small boy.

And....yesterday he rolled over for the first time! TA DAA. He always has this look on his face when he gets on his belly. I'll try to get some video of him rolling over soon.

The nights here have been rough. He's reverted back to a newborn, up every hour on the hour. We are really having a hard time adjusting since Kirby's been gone. He doesn't want to sleep on his back, or his side, or his belly. He doesn't want to sleep in his crib, in the pack n play or in the bed. He wants to be held, which is not working at all. I've got to figure something out, before I lose it. I need some zzzleep. But I guess that's what coffee is for.
