Dash 16 Months

This past Sunday Dash turned 16 months old, which was also my birthday. I keep thinking back to my last birthday when I was in Italy, at my favorite winery, with a four month old and a deployed husband. What a difference a year makes.

But its much better now, and this was the first one of my birthdays that Kirby was here for in 3 years! But enough about me, more about my little guy.

Dash is definitely getting further away from being a baby everyday. He sleeps great, eats great, and has a pretty good attitude most of the time. I call him my gourmet baby because we will eat anything, even things with strong flavors that would make other children gag. The only problem with a good eater is that they eat ANYTHING. He's eaten 6 earbuds (the squishy part of earphones that goes in you ear) he ate a decorative shiny red rock (the kind that goes in a vase) one of those toggle eyeballs that you use for crafts and many more things I can't recall. The problem is I don't find out about these things until after the fact, if you know what I mean. You never know what will show up in his diaper.
He is also obsessed with bugs, he loves pointing and oohing and ahhing at them. He'll occasionally pick one up and give it a taste, but I scream and he moves on. He loves going on walks which we try to do nightly. He walks the whole half mile loop himself usually pushing his little car. He finds treasures along the way and puts them in his car.
He wants to do everything that Oliver does including use the potty. I've already pulled out the training potty because he's shown so much interest. He mostly goes peepee outside, but he knows he's doing it and requires a round of applause upon completion. He has also started telling me when he has pooped and he's even been more willing to let me change him. We'll see how it goes from here.
He doesn't consider himself a baby and longer wants to be left at home with mama while Oliver and Daddy go somewhere. The other day Kirby took Oliver to Wal-Mart and Dashel KNEW they were leaving and that it looked like he wasn't going. He got his shoes and pleadingly ran crying to Kirby, it was so sad. So Kirby took him too, braving the first two-kid outing by himself. Dashel was so happy to be a big boy, AND of course Kirby got two compliments about how nice it was to see a Daddy out and about with the kids.
For some reason we just LOVE Dash's mullet, it is getting super long and starting to flip out. It makes us really happy.

Wait for me!
