Spring

Spring is for boys,
With its lizards and bugs
And little white flowers
they pick for their Mum.

R & R

Our R&R has already come and gone, but the awesome time we had will last forever. We had a fun filled two week vacation in Italy, and really saw a lot of the places we'd been meaning to but never got around to. Here is a little sneak peak at all the fun things we did and places we went. We took a bazillion photos so I'll be posting more as I get a chance. Check back soon!

This picture of course will break your heart. This is the first time Kirby and Dashel see each other. They both look so happy, and Dashel seems to know that this is his Daddy

We jumped in the car and drove to Verona where we ate a fabulous sushi lunch (one tends to get tired of Italian food) and walked around the old city center. Here's Kirby and Oliver in the Arena.

We went to a zoo a little outside of Verona, they had a walk through part and a drive through part. Oliver was very happy to see the monkeys, and I thought this peacock was quite impressive.

We took the train to Milan where we ate sushi again (do you see a trend) and walked around and saw the Duomo and the VERY pricey stores. Lots of great shopping, if you want to spend a small fortune.

We drove down to Camp Darby, a small army installation where you can camp and rent cabins. We got one of the cabins which was very nice but the area is a little sleazy to say the least. One of the main attractions is being so close to Pisa.

We headed north and picked a spot on the map. A little town called Porto Venere at the very edge of Italy. It was absolutely beautiful and very non-touristy even though it was a tourist destination, if that makes any sense. Here's a picture I took from the boat ride we took.

More pictures to come!

2 Months Old

Well the little guy has been around for two months now. He is a great baby and GROWING like mad. He has grown 3 inches since birth! He's getting so smiley and even throws in an adorable laugh now and then. He still loves being held and snuggled. We've really settled into a nice routine around here. We're getting everything done and having a little fun too! Pretty much the biggest thing on the horizon now is Kirby coming home for R&R. We are all very excited.
Oliver is growing as well. He's grown half an inch since I last measured him which was right around his birthday. He's talking up a storm now and learning new words every day. He can even say his name now "olwer". He's got all his letters down and now he's starting to recognize colors. He says "whitey" "poo" for blue and "orangey". I'm not sure why he adds a "y" onto so many words. He can't wait to wrestle with Daddy soon!

One Month Old

Wow, its already been a month with our new little angel. He really is such a good boy, he never cries, likes bath time, eats like a champ, and tolerates kisses from big brother with grace. He's getting bigger by the second and we just can't wait for Daddy to meet him. My mom will be leaving next week so the reality of having two all by myself will really hit. I think we'll do fine, but no more sleeping in till nine for me :(
Enjoy these pictures of our monkey man!

Here's a picture of Oliver at 1 month, do they look alike?

Dashel Edward

Well the little guy FINALLY made an appearance. I told him that since I let him cook for as long as he wanted he'd better give me a fast and easy delivery. I didn't get the easy part but it was definitely fast, the Doctor on call didn't even make it there in time! My water broke about 5 am so we went to the birthing center shortly after that. Once they checked the baby's heart beat and got me hooked up I was able to get the webcam set up with Kirby and even chatted with him a while. That was a big morale boost just knowing he knew I was there and that it was happening. I walked up and down the halls until about 11:30 and thought things were getting pretty close. Turned out I was still only 2cm. The nurse (who was absolutely awesome by the way) told me not to get discouraged and that I just needed to turn the corner and it would happen quickly. The next two hours were absolutely horrible but then she checked me and I was 9cm and having the baby. I heard her say to my mom that the Dr wasn't going to make it, the nurse sat right on the side of the bed and delivered the baby. It was very civil war era feeling. The Dr did make it eventually. I was just so happy it was over. About 15 minutes later Kirby called in and I told him I had had the baby. He was surprised and I was able to hold Dashel up so he could see him. It was a very special moment.

This is the same look I had after I had Oliver, like I can't quite figure out what just happened.
